Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling & MPN

The billing for your Vanguard University Federal Perkins Student Loan will be handled by Educational Computer Systems, Inc. (ECSI).  ECSI is a billing service provider for the college, not a collection agency.

ECSI  provides web-based access to your account, allowing you to verify when your payments have been received, update address and phone information, verify account balances, obtain loan payoff amounts, sign-up for electronic billing, and make payments.  ECSI also provides payment options such as recurring electronic funds transfer and credit card payments (additional fees will apply to some eCheck and credit card payments).

For more information on ECSI, please visit their website at www.ecsi.net.

Graduate PLUS Loan Entrance Counseling

Graduate students that apply and are approved for the Graduate PLUS Loan, must complete Loan Entrance Counseling specifically for this loan. This requirement is completed once a year. Complete your Graduate PLUS Loan Counseling only if you have been asked to do so by the Financial Aid Office.

Exit Counseling

The federal government requires all Direct Loan borrowers to complete Exit Counseling when a student graduates, withdraws from school, or drops below half-time status. Exit Counseling is available on studentloans.gov.

Please have the following information before you begin:

  • Social security number
  • Driver’s license
  • Permanent address
  • Employer (expected employer)
  • Next of kin
  • Two references (these persons will be contacted if your loan holder cannot reach you)

Steps to complete Exit Counseling:

  • Log into studentloans.gov (SSN, birthday, FAFSA PIN)
  • Select “Complete Counseling” on the left side menu
  • Select “Exit Counseling” (required), third panel in the center of the page

This process should take about 15 minutes and is required if you have borrowed federal student loans. Detailed information regarding your federal student loans is available on the NSLDS website at www.nslds.ed.gov. You will need your PIN number that you used to file your FAFSA. If you do not remember your PIN or are experiencing problems with your PIN, visit www.pin.ed.gov. Please stop by the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions regarding Exit Counseling.
